Can Cadillac EVs Use a Tesla Supercharger?

2026 Cadillac OPTIQ Charging

Switching to an all-electric luxury vehicle makes driving around the Bay Area seamless. As Cadillac introduces new electric models each year, guests from Napa to Fairfield are trading gas-powered engines for refined electric performance. But before you plan a weekend getaway past the Carquinez Bridge or up to Vacaville, you might wonder: Can Cadillac EVs use Tesla Supercharger stations?

Team Cadillac is here to help you navigate your charging options with ease so you can stay happy on every journey.

Understanding Charging Ports: CCS vs. NACS

Modern electric vehicles use two primary types of charging ports: the SAE Combined Charging System (CCS) and the North American Charging Standard (NACS). Review the main differences between these systems:

  • CCS Connectors: These ports support Level 1, Level 2, and DC Fast Charging (Level 3) all within a single port design. To access rapid DC Fast Charging speeds, the connector utilizes two additional lower pins.
  • NACS Connectors: This port design also handles all charging levels but was originally created specifically for the Tesla network.

Cadillac luxury EVs, like the LYRIQ, come equipped with the widely accessible CCS port. Meanwhile, Tesla Supercharger stations utilize NACS cords. Fortunately, this technical difference does not limit your travel plans around American Canyon. By utilizing an available Cadillac NACS adapter, you can power up your LYRIQ at compatible Tesla Supercharger stations across the country.

Please note: The 2026 Cadillac OPTIQ comes equipped with a NACS-compatible charging port and does not require an adapter for Tesla Supercharger stations.

How to Use a Tesla Supercharger Station in Vallejo, Napa, and Fairfield

Once you secure your Cadillac NACS adapter, connecting to a Supercharger station is simple. Follow these steps the next time you need a quick charge near the Solano County Fairgrounds or Six Flags Discovery Kingdom:

  1. Open the Map tab within your myCadillac mobile app to locate a compatible local Tesla Supercharger station.
  2. Once you arrive at the station, select your specific charger stall within the app.
  3. Step out of your vehicle and attach the Supercharger cable directly to your Cadillac NACS adapter.
  4. Plug the combined charging cord securely into your vehicle’s charging port.
  5. Select “Start Charging” in the myCadillac app and confirm power is flowing.
  6. When your charging session concludes, remove the cable and the NACS adapter from your vehicle as a single unit.
  7. Disengage your Cadillac NACS adapter from the station cable by pressing the release latch on the adapter.

Disclaimer: Use of charge cord adapters may cause electrical overheating, resulting in vehicle damage or personal injury, and any damage caused by non-GM-approved equipment may not be covered under your GM vehicle limited warranty. Customers must only use GM-approved accessories and should never modify or attempt to repair the adapter, nor should it be stored outdoors. General Motors does not guarantee access to all Tesla Superchargers; drivers must use the myCadillac mobile app—which requires an active device data connection and features that vary by vehicle and plan—to locate compatible stations. Furthermore, the GM NACS DC Adapter is designed strictly for DC Fast Charging and is not compatible with Level 2 NACS chargers, including wall connectors and destination chargers. Actual charging speeds will vary based on battery condition, input voltage, outside temperature, vehicle type, and vehicle settings. GM accepts no liability for damages arising from the use of non-GM-approved charging stations or non-GM vehicles.
